Job Description
The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is the U.S. Firm's legal department, providing dedicated legal support to the Firm. OGC divides its resources into six practice groups:

Litigation, which oversees claims and regulatory matters involving the firm and its personnel.

Counseling, which supports the individual Lines of Service with respect to practice issues, as well as advises on regulatory issues.

Corporate, which advises the firm on matters relating to its operations both within the US and as it relates to the broader PwC Network, including mergers and acquisitions, governance and partnership law matters and treasury affairs.

Commercial, which supports the firm's client contracting function.

Employment, which advises on matters related to employees and partners of the firm.

Tech, IP and Data Protection, which advises the firm on intellectual property, technology transactional matters, data issues and data privacy.

Position/Program Requirements
Basic Qualifications:

Prior experience providing legal advice as a specialist in one of the practice groups (litigation, counseling, corporate, commercial, employment ).
Prior professional experience required; the extent, nature and duration of the experience depends upon the role involved.

Minimum Year(s) of Experience: 10

Minimum Degree Required: Juris Doctorate

Knowledge Preferred:

Demonstrates thought leader-level knowledge with, and/or a proven record of success, directing efforts as a technical professional in a legal specialty.

Skills Preferred:

Demonstrates thought leader-level abilities with, and/or a proven record of success directing efforts in the following areas:

- Handling highly complex legal issues involving significant risk and requiring the application of judgment;
- Identifying and analyzing complex legal/regulatory/business issues and providing appropriate legal advice regarding applicable legal and professional standards, often on a time-sensitive basis;
- Managing outside counsel to obtain optimal outcome and contain costs;
- Negotiating with respect to legal issues;
- Managing multiple cases/matters/projects and/or teams of internal and/or external resources;
- Building consensus, even for difficult or unpopular courses of action necessitated by legal or regulatory requirements; and,
- Advising and successfully interacting

at the senior leadership level.

The Litigation Practice Group within OGC handles all of the Firms litigation, arbitration, and contentious regulatory matters. The successful candidate must be a member in good standing of the California bar and will be expected to be the lead internal counsel on a wide range of litigation and regulatory matters across the Firms business lines. Therefore, the baseline requirements for this position include a strategic mindsight, excellent and demonstrated judgment, strong communication skills, a willingness to self-start and take the lead, and a strong work ethic. Preference will be given to candidates with one or more of the following: (1) work experience at a regulator; (2) audit liability defense experience; or (3) in-house litigation experience
